Hmmm, encouraging students to succeed in the midst of Spring Break and Summer Vacation . . . Well, this Spring Break I suggested to my students to practice 1/2 hour everyday on the basics, write in peaceful areas of enjoyment or just write what they want to write and see what comes out of it. I did give a class assignment and decided to hold off on it and let them determine how to best manage their schedules around writing and vice versa. Afterall, to write well and to write often shouldn't you enjoy it?
